The Fullness of Renunciation

Laypeople often gloss over the term “renunciation” in Buddhist teachings, assuming it is meant only for monastics. Perhaps there is also some uneasiness with this term. Closer examination of Buddhist teachings reveals that nekkhamma (“renunciation”) is linked to wisdom, joy, happiness, and even freedom.

This daylong explores the fullness of renunciation, sometimes called letting go, in our meditation practice, daily life, and in the suttas. Letting go is the very basis of the Buddhist path, and leads to ever-increasing well-being. The day will be held mostly in silence in order to deepen our inner experience.
