Teachers and Facilitators
- Chris BasilettiCommunity Teacher
Chris Basiletti became interested in meditation in his late teens. Initially, he practiced in the Zen tradition and later Shambala Buddhism as taught by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Around 1976 he attended a Vipassana retreat at the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, and has primarily been practicing and later teaching in the Theravadan tradition since that time. Teachers that have been particularly influential include Shunryu Suzuki, Joseph Goldstein, Christopher Titmus, Mary Grace Orr, Ajahn Sumedho, Ajahn Amaro, Ajahn Chah, and Bob Stahl. He began leading meditation groups and teaching in 2004 and completed Bob Stahl’s Community Teacher training program in 2014. His practice and teaching interweave many influences with an emphasis on integrating Dhamma practice into the daily life of a layperson as a path to awakening. Chris is available for one-on-one mentoring by appointment. He and his wife live in Watsonville.
- Tiffany Lynn WongCommunity Facilitator
Tiffany Wong, MFA, is an instructor at UCSC where she teaches courses on mindfulness, creativity, and ecology. She leads a Watsonville Insight Meditation group and is empowered by Bob Stahl to share the dharma. She has done monastery practice with Laung Por Pasanno at the Abhayagiri Monastery and with Thanissaro Bhikkhu at the Metta Forest Monastery. She recently received a contemplative fellowship from the Hemera Foundation for her work as an educator that supports initiatives that foster basic human goodness in individuals and society.

Dhamma Friends: Watsonville Insight Meditation – Tuesdays
We are a group of Watsonville based Insight meditators who practice liberation and healing through community. Our group is intergenerational, multi-ethnic, and LGTBQ+ friendly. Both of our Tuesday and Saturday offerings are open to Insight Meditation practitioners old and new. The Tuesday evening offering is from 6:00-7:15 pm and includes a guided 30-minute sit with a dharmette and check-in afterward. The Saturday morning offering, from 9:30-11:00 am, follows a similar format with a 45-minute sit.
Since COVID-19 and “shelter-in-place” took effect, all of our offerings have moved online. Anyone who wishes to join us from any location during this time may contact Chris Basiletti or Tiffany Lynn Wong for more information.
Please return to the calendar to join an online session or learn of any schedule updates.
